Description of key information

non flammable on ignition
no flammability on contact in water
no pyrophoric properties

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
non flammable

Additional information

The substance 2-methyl-N-(4-sulfamoylphenyl) prop-2-enamide (SPM-N) is non flammable on ignition as determined in the test according to EU Method A.10. No propagation of burning was observed in the preliminary test.

Based on experience in handling and use and the chemical structure, flammability on contact in water or damp air is not expected. As confirmed in the expert statement according to EU Method A.12, no metals, transition metals, boron or silicon are present in the molecule.

Based on experience in handling and use and the chemical structure, and as confirmed in the expert statement according to EU Method A.13, pyrophoric properties are not expected.

Justification for classification or non-classification

The available data on flammability of the test substance do not meet the criteria for classification according to Regulation (EC) 1272/2008 or Directive 67/548/EEC, and are therefore conclusive but not sufficient for classification:

No propagation of burning in a test according to EU method A.10. Based on the chemical structure and experience in handling and use, pyrophoricity and flammability on contact with water are not expected.
