PBT assessment: overall result

PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

Iodomethane is not classified as PBT/vPvB. Even though iodomethane is not readily biodegradable the substance dissipates quickly by volatilisation with a DT90 of 6.8 hours in soil. The log Kow indicates a low potential to bioaccumulate. Since the submission is for storage only, exposure and hence toxicity is highly unlikely. To be classified as PBT the substance needs to be not readily biodegradable, have a BMF of >1, a log Kow of > 4.5, have an EC50 or LC50 < 0.1 mg/l, be classified as cancerogenic, mutagenic or reprotoxic. Iodomethane does not fullfill the criteria to be classified as PBT or vPvB.
