Additional information

Due to its octanol-water partition coefficient (log P = 0.57) 1,3-diethyl-2-thiourea is not expected to adsorb to soil or sediment and will mainly be present in the aqueous phase.

DETU has been shown to be not toxic to fish and algae and harmful to daphnia in several acute studies:

  • fish: LC50-96h = 910 mg/L
  • algae: EC50-72h = 310 mg/L (based on specific growth rate)
  • daphnia: EC50-48h = 56 mg/L

Two chronic data are also available:

daphnia: EC10 -21d = 1.67 mg/L (based on reproduction)

algae: NOEC-72h = 73 mg/L (based on specific growth rate)
