Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

All members of the category share the same backbone. The most extensively tested members comprise the non-chlorinated Pigment Blue 15 (CAS Nr. 147-14-8) and the fully chlorinated Pigment Green 7 (CAS Nr. 1328-53-6), both of which contain the central copper ion and represent the boundaries of the category. Toxicological and ecotoxicological testing of the two pigments did not indicated that the chlorination of the backbone influences the results. In addition, the available tests for intermediate stages of chlorine and/or bromine substitution also showed no differences in test results from the boundaries of the category. It can therefore be assumed that a combined data set of all available studies is valid for read across to the target substance CAS 16040 -69 -0.

The data provide a comprehensive review of existing data on toxicity of the substances combined to the category Phthalocyanine.

Several studies on the acute and chronic toxicity of single Phthalocyanines to fish, Daphnia and algae are available. Overall the data indicate that substances of the category Phthalocyanine are not harmful to aquatic organisms in the range of water solubility.

Phtalocyanines were proofed to be not toxic to microorganisms by several studies.
