Additional information

All members of the category share the same backbone. The most extensively tested members comprise the non-chlorinated Pigment Blue 15 (CAS Nr. 147-14-8) and the fully chlorinated Pigment Green 7 (CAS Nr. 1328-53-6), both of which contain the central copper ion and represent the boundaries of the category. Toxicological and ecotoxicological testing of the two pigments did not indicated that the chlorination of the backbone influences the results. In addition, the available tests for intermediate stages of chlorine and/or bromine substitution also showed no differences in test results from the boundaries of the category. It can therefore be assumed that a combined data set of all available studies is valid for each member of the category.

The substances summarised in the category Phthalocyanines are poorly biodegradable.
