Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Because of the ionic nature, any quantitatively relevant adsorption onto soil, sediments or suspended matter for ammonium sulfite as well as its dissociation products is not to be expected.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Because of the ionic nature, sulfite substances as well as their dissociation products are not volatile from aqueous solutions. Relevant adsorption onto soils, sediments or suspended matter is not to be expected. Moreover, due to the chemical instability of sulfite compounds in the environment and rapid oxidation, a quantitatively relevant adsorption to the solid phase is not to be expected.
