Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

According to the reference, ammonium sulfite monohydrate decomposes between 60 - 70°C. The substance sublimes at 150°C.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

For the evaluation of this endpoint data from one handbook (CRC handbook, 1974) was used as key information. Information on the decomposition of ammonium sulfite monohydrate was also stated in the newer version of the handbook (CRC handbook, 2008). However, this version only stated that the substance decomposes, but the exact decomposition temperature was not stated.

According to the REACH regulation ("ECHA, guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment - chapter R.7.a"), it is allowed to use specific handbook data as a reliable data source. Useful reference books and data compliations containing peer reviewed physico-chemical data include the CRC handbook of Chemistry and Physics.

Data available from the CRC handbook stated that ammonium sulfite monohydrate decomposes between 60 -70°C and sublimes at 150°C.
