Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The test substance UAX-1179 is not harmful to aquatic microorganisms up to and including a test concentration of 1000 mg/L and disturbances in the biodegradation process of activated sludge are not anticipated.

Additional information

One study investigated the toxicity of the test substance UAX-1179 (CAS: 351197-46-1) to microorganisms (Grützner, 2002). The study was performed according to the OECD Guideline 209. Activated sludge from a wastewater treatment plant, treating predominantly domestic wastewater was selected as inoculum. The final nominal test item concentrations tested were 10, 32, 100, 320 and 1000 mg/L. After three hours the inhibition of the respiration rate was recorded. The test substance had no significant inhibitory effects on the respiration rate of microorganisms. This resulted in an EC50 of > 1000 mg/L and a NOEC of ≥1000 mg/L. It can be assumed that no inhibition of degradation in sewage treatment plants are anticipated up to and including a test substance concentration of 1000 mg/L.
