Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The test substance UAX-1179 is not readily biodegradable according to the OECD criteria.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

One study investigated the biodegradation of the test substance UAX-1179 (CAS: 351197-46-1) in a screening test (Grützner, 2002). The study was performed according to the OECD Guideline 301 F “Ready Biodegradability: Manometric Respirometry Test”. Activated sludge from a wastewater treatment plant, treating predominantly domestic wastewater was selected as inoculum. 103 and 101 mg/L of the test substance were tested for biodegradation. The test substance was biodegraded 4% (mean) after 28 days. According to the OECD criteria the test substance is not biodegradable within 28 days under conditions tested. An inhibitory effect of activated sludge microorganisms caused by the test substance can be ruled out because the biodegradation rate in the toxicity control was > 25% within 14 days.
