The acute toxicity of the test item 2,3-Epoxypropyl neodecanoate, oligomeric reaction products with toluene-4-sulfonic acid to fish (zebrafish) was determined according to OECD-Guideline for Testing of Chemicals No. 203 (1992).

A semi-static test with daily renewal of the test media was performed with the water accommodated fractions (WAF) of nominal 6.25 - 12.5 - 25.0 - 50.0 - 100 mg/L. All terms related to concentration levels will be given as loading levels. The LL50 after 96 h was determined to be > 100 mg/L (highest loading level).

In the acute immobilization test to Daphnia magna (STRAUS), the effects of the test item 2,3-Epoxypropyl neodecanoate, oligomeric reaction products with toluene-4-sulfonic acid were determined according to OECD 202 (2004). The study was conducted under static conditions over a period of 48 h with 6 water accommodated fractions (WAF) of the test item with nominal loadings in the range of 3.125 to 100 mg/L. The water accommodated and the control were analytically verified by analysis of total organic carbon (TOC, according to DIN EN 1484) at the start of the exposure (fresh media, 0 h) and at the end of the exposure (old media, 48 h). The measured concentrations of total organic carbon in the fresh media (0 h) and the old media (48 h) were within a range of 80& to 120%. Based on the nominal loadings of the test item 2,3-Epoxypropyl neodecanoate, oligomeric reaction products with toluene-4-sulfonic acid, the 48-h EL50 for Daphnia magna was calculated to be 26.3 mg/L (95 % confidence limits: 23.9 – 30.3 mg/L). The NOEL after 48 h was 12.5 mg/L. The LOEL after 48 h was 25.0 mg/L.

The toxicity of the test item to the unicellular freshwater green alga Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata was determined according to the principles of OECD 201.The study was performed under static conditions with water accommodated fractions (WAF) of nominal 6.25 - 12.5 - 25.0 - 50.0 - 100 mg/L. The TOC content (according to DIN EN 1484) of the test item and the control was determined from freshly prepared and old test media after 0 and 72 hours of exposure, respectively.

The EL50-values with 95 % confidence intervals for inhibition of specific growth rate (ErL50) and yield (EyL50) after 72 hours were > 100 mg/L and 41.8 (31.4 – 59.7) mg/L, respectively. The NOEL-values for inhibition of specific growth rate and yield after 72 hours were 12.5 mg/L and < 6.25 mg/L. All effect values are given based on nominal test item loading levels. A Respiration Inhibition Test with activated sludge according to OECD Guideline No. 209 was carried out with the test item 2,3-Epoxypropyl neodecanoate, oligomeric reaction products with toluene-4-sulfonic acid. Test system was activated sludge of a municipal treatment plant. The test was carried out under static conditions with the substance concentrations of 560 - 750 - 1000 mg/L in a geometrical series with a dilution factor of 1.33. The respiration rates of the control, reference and test item replicates were measured after a contact time of three hours, and the inhibitory effects of the test and reference item were determined in comparison to the control respiration rates. The mean inhibition of respiration for the test item replicates ranged from 5 % to 7 %. In order to check the activity of the test system and the test conditions a reference test was carried out with copper (II) sulphate pentahydrate as reference item and the reference toxicity was determined. The EC50-value for the reference item was 99.1 mg/L. The N

OEC of the test item2,3-Epoxypropyl neodecanoate, oligomeric reaction products with toluene-4-sulfonic acidis 1000 mg/L, the EC50 of the test item is > 1000 mg/L.
