Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

In a ready biodegradability study, 1-bromopropane was treated with an inoculum for 28 days in a closed bottle test according to OECD 301 D and EU method C.4-E.

The toxicity control showed that the test substance is not toxic to the inoculum at the maximum test concentration of 5.6 mg/L.

19.2 % biodegradation was achieved after 28 days and therefore 1-bromopropane cannot be classed as readily biodegradable.

The results of a screening prediction using BIOWIN v4.1 were as follows:

• Biowin1 (Linear Model Prediction) : Biodegrades Fast

• Biowin2 (Non-Linear Model Prediction): Does Not Biodegrade Fast

• Biowin3 (Ultimate Biodegradation Timeframe): Weeks

• Biowin4 (Primary Biodegradation Timeframe): Days-Weeks

• Biowin5 (MITI Linear Model Prediction) : Biodegrades Fast

• Biowin6 (MITI Non-Linear Model Prediction): Does Not Biodegrade Fast

It can be reasonably concluded that the test material is inherently biodegradable.
