Applicant's summary and conclusion

Validity criteria fulfilled:
not specified
Conclusions:
The effect of the test material on the growth of Selenastrum capricornutum (new name: Pseudokirchnerella subcapitata) has been investigated over a 72-hour period and gave an ErC50 (0-72 h) of 17 mg/L, an EbC50 (0-72 h) of 3.2 mg/L. The No Observed Effect Concentration based on growth rate and biomass was 0.95 mg/L.
Executive summary:

A study was performed to assess the effect of the test material on the growth of the green alga Selenastrum capricornutum (new name: Pseudokirchnerella subcapitata). The method followed is described in the OECD guidelines for Testing of Chemicals No.201.

In terms of growth rate, exposure of Selenastrum capricornutum to the test material gave an ErC50 (0 -72 h) value of 17 mg/L. The No Observed Effect Concentration based on inhibition of growth rate was 0.95 mg/L.

In term of biomass integral (area under growth curve), exposure of Selenastrum capricornutum to the test material gave an EbC50 (0 -72 h) value of 3.2 mg/L. The No Observed Effect Concentration based on inhibition of biomass integral was 0.95 mg/L.
