Description of key information

log Pow >6.5 (Pow >3.2 x 10⁶), OECD 117, EU Method A.8 and EPA OPPTS 830.7570, Baltussen 2013b.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

In the key study the partition coefficient of the test material was investigated using the HPLC method in accordance with standardised guidelines. The retention time of the test material on the column was compared to that of the reference material 4,4’-DDT using 75 % methanol as the mobile phase at neutral pH. Under these analytical conditions, the test material could not be eluted form the column, whereas 4,4’-DDT (log Pow = 6.5) had a retention time of 18.4 minutes. It was therefore concluded that the test material had a higher log Pow than the reference material. Under the conditions of this study, the partition coefficient of the test material is log Pow >6.5 (Pow >3.2 x 10⁶).
