Description of key information

non flammable solid
no pyrophoricity
no flammability in contact with water

Key value for chemical safety assessment

non flammable

Additional information

The flammability of the substance was determined according to EU Method A.10. The substance was classified as "non flammable" according to CLP. Based on the chemical structure pyrophoricity and flammability in contact with water are not expected.

Justification for classification or non-classification

In a test performed according to EU Method A.10, the substance could not be ignited and therefore is not highly flammable according to CLP.

From the structural formula of the substance it can be concluded that the substance is not pyrophoric according to CLP. The substance does not contain any chemical group that might lead to spontaneous ignition a short time after coming into contact with air at room temperature (circa 20 °C). The substance does not contain groups that might lead to the development of highly flammable gases in dangerous quantities. Furthermore no metals, transition metals, boron or silicon are present. Therefore, it can be concluded that the substance is incapable of developing a dangerous amount of (flammable) gas in contact with air, damp air or water.

Furthermore, experience in handling shows that the substance does not react with water and does not ignite when coming in contact with air.
