Description of key information

EC50 (48 h): > 100 mg/L for Daphnia magna (OECD 202)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

One experimental study investigating the short-term effects of 2-(1-methylethoxy)ethyl acetate (CAS 19234-20-9) to aquatic invertebrates is available (Vryenhoef, 2012). The study was performed according to OECD 202 under GLP conditions with the water flea Daphnia magna. A preliminary range-finding study with four concentrations up to 100 mg/L did not result in any immobilized daphnia. Therefore, a confirmatory limit test with 100 mg/L was performed. No immobilization was observed in the definitive test as well. Thus, an EC50 (48 h) of > 100 mg/L (nominal) was derived. Measured concentrations were within the range of 80 - 120%. Therefore, the EC50 was based on the nominal concentrations only.
