Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

According to Regulation (EC) 1907/2006, Annex IX, Column I, simulation testing on biodegradation in soil is relevant for substances with a high potential for adsorption. Sodium 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetate (CAS No. 2702-72-9) rapidly dissociates in water into 2,4-Dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (CAS No. 94-75-7). As the Koc value for 2,4-Dichlorophenoxyaceticacid is 56 (European Comission, 2001*), low potential for adsorption of this substance to solid particles can be assumed, and testing for this endpoint is not deemed necessary.
