Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The calculated log BCF for representative components of the streams in this category are in the range 0.73-4.15

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The substances in this category are hydrocarbon UVCBs. Standard tests for this endpoint are intended for single substances and are not appropriate for complex substances. However, where exposure assessments are conducted, the endpoint will be characterized using quantitative structure property relationships for representative hydrocarbon structures that comprise the relevant hydrocarbon block(s) used to assess the environmental risk of this substance. The information will be recorded in the appropriate Tables 1 and 2 (see Appendix B of the CSR).

An experimental BCF is not available for any of the streams in this category. In the absence of measured data the use of a QSAR to predict the BCF is an appropriate technique to use. The BCF of representative components of the streams have been calculated. The use of the linear bioconcentration factor for aquatic organisms QSAR recommended in the Technical Guidance Document (2003) is appropriate for nine of these substances as their log Kow falls within the applicability domain of the model. The bioconcentration factor for aquatic organisms for remaining substances has been predicted using a parabolic equation because it has a log Kow >6.
