A study was conducted at to determine the degree of bioconcentration of 2-methyl-1,8-octanediamine (MODA) in common carp. The concentration of the test substance was set at 500 µg/L at Level 1 and 50 µg/L at Level 2 taking into account a preliminary 48-hr LC50 and the test substance’s analytical sensitivity. A control was included as blank. No abnormalities or mortalities were observed during the study, and the mean concentration of the test substance in test water was almost completely maintained at the set value over the 8 week treatment period. All concentrations of the test substance in test fishes found were found to be below the limit of quantitation.

The study was conducted to GLP and in accordance with the “Bioconcentration Tests of Chemical Substances in Fish” specified in "About Test Methods for New Chemical Substances" (Kanpogyo Notification No. 5, Yakuhatsu Notification No. 615 and 49 Kikyoku Notification No. 392 dated July 13, 1974) and “Bioaccumulation: 305C, Degree of Bioconcentration in Fish” included in the “OECD Guidelines for Testing of Chemicals (May 12, 1981). The concentration of the test substance was set at 500 µg/L at Level 1 and 50 µg/L at Level 2 taking into account a preliminary 48-hr LC50 and the test substance’s analytical sensitivity. A control was included as blank. No abnormalities or mortalities were observed during the study, and the mean concentration of the test substance in test water was almost completely maintained at the set value over the 8 week treatment period. All concentrations of the test substance in test fishes found were found to be below the limit of quantitation.
