Description of key information

An acute oral and an acute dermal study were available. In addition, an acute inhalation toxicity study was available of a very structurally-related substance.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Both the acute oral and dermal studies showed that LD50 values were in excess of 2000 mg/kg bw. An acute inhalation toxicity test was not considered relevant because this substance can only exist in an aqueous formulation and no spray applications are being used. Moreover, an acute inhalation study with a very structurally related substance, viz. EDTA-FeNa did not show mortality at the technically maximum attainable concentration for 4 hours.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on the info given above, no classification is needed for acute toxicity.
