Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Two in vitro studies of genotoxicty - one on bacteria and one on mammalian cells - are submitted. Both give a negative result. An additional in vivo study on genotoxicty - a micronucleas assay - is submitted. This also gives a negative result.

It is concluded that N-(n-octyl)-2-pyrrolidinone is not genotoxic.

Justification for selection of genetic toxicity endpoint
The study has been completed to modern guidelines, and to GLP standards.

Short description of key information:
N-(n-octyl)-2-pyrrolidinone is found not to have any genotoxic potential.

Endpoint Conclusion: No adverse effect observed (negative)

Justification for classification or non-classification

No classification is required since both studies show N-(n-octyl)-2-pyrrolidinone does not have genotoxic potential.
