Description of key information
The log Koc of 3.5 was experimentally determined in an adsorption/desorption study according to OECD Guideline 121 under GLP conditions.
Key value for chemical safety assessment
- Koc at 20 °C:
- 3 162
Additional information
The adsorption coefficient (Koc) of aromatic hydrocarbons, C10 -13, reaction products with branched nonene, sulphonated, sodium salts was estimated using the High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) method. The Koctest was performed in accordance with the OECD guideline 121 with one modification. Despite the test substance was ionisable only the ionized form was tested. The test was performed using a buffer solution pH 7 as aqueous part of the mobile phase in the HPLC set up in order to keep the pH stable during the test. The data on Koccan be used to predict the potential of the test substance to partition to soil, sediment or sewage sludge.
During the study two peaks for the test substance were detected. Based on the information provided by the sponsor the peak with the lowest retention time was considered to be representative for the C1 – C3 alkyl chain part of the substance structure whereas the peak with the highest retention time was considered to be representative for the C10 – C11 alkyl chain part of the substance structure. The measured log Kocvalueas calculated from the test for the first peak was <1.25 and for the second peak 3.5. The latter value has been used as key value for the CSA.
[LogKoc: 3.5]
