Additional information

The hydrolysis of the substance menthyl acetate as a function of pH and temperature was studied in accordance with OECD TG 111 under GLP. In tier 2 tests the experiments showed that the hydrolysis reaction followed pseudo first order kinetics. The estimated half-life of hydrolysis at 25 °C was 137 hours at pH 4, 133 hours at pH 7 and 112 hours at pH 9. The results of the study show that menthyl acetate rapidly hydrolyses and hydrolysis contributes to the degradation of the substance in the environment. Due to the rapid hydrolysis it can be considered as not persistent. Other information on the abiotic degradation of the substance in the environment is not available.
