Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The freezing temperature of the test item has been determined to be 263 ± 0.5 K (-10.0 ± 0.5°C), using BS4633: Method for the
Determination of Crystallizing Point, designed to be compatible with Method A1 Melting/Freezing Temperature of Commission Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 of 30 May 2008 and Method 102 of the OECD Guidelines for Testing of Chemicals, 27 July 1995.
However, the test item showed significant supercooling with a minimum temperature of 254 K (-19.5°C) being reached in both determinations with the test item remaining in a liquid form. The test item then warmed to a secondary plateau following solidification
and this value has been reported as the definitive freezing temperature.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Melting / freezing point at 101 325 Pa:
-10 °C

Additional information

A reliability rating of 1 was assigned to the key study according to the criteria of Klimisch, 1997 as the study was conducted in accordance with recognised guidelines and GLP.
