Description of key information

The surface tension of the test item was determined to be 67.27 ± 0.04 mN7m at 19.9 °C. As all measured values were higher than 60 mN/m, thus the test item  was not classified as surface active.

Additional information

A study was conducted according to OECD TG 115 and Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 method A.5 to determine the surface tension of the test item. The study was performed using the plate method. Therefore a 90 % saturated test item solution was prepared. The concentration of the 90 % saturated test solution was determined with 855.63 mg test item/L via DOC (dissolved organic carbon) measurement. The measurement was performed in duplicated. One measurement was performed for verification purposes after 59 minutes. No relevant changes and thus no dependence of surface tension on time were observed. The surface tension of an aqueous solution of the test item was determined to be 67.27 ± 0.04 mN/m at 19.9 °C and 855.63 mg/L. The surface tension of the negative control was determined to be 72.53 mN/m at 20.4 °C, therefore showing a difference of 0.19 % from the stated literature value. The difference lies within the accepted range of 1 % deviation from literature value. Therefore, the result of the test is considered valid and the test item Is not classified as surface active.
