Additional information

1,1-dimethylheptanethiol is considered not to bioaccumulate in the aquatic environment. Based on a BMF of less than 0.01 read across from tert-dodecanethiol. The aquatic bioaccumulation of 1,1-dimethylheptanethiol (C9 branched) has been read across from a structural analogue, tert-dodecanethiol (C12 branched). These substances are both aliphatic thiols with a simple branched structure, characterised by a sulfhydryl (SH) functional group. The substances are of a similar size (C9 and C12) and structure, with a single unifying functional group and thus are expected to have similar properties in the environment. Neither 1,1-dimethylheptanethiol or tert-dodecanethiol are readily biodegradable.
