Description of key information

The experimental data of partition coefficient is obtained according to OECD Guideline no. 107.
A supporting value is predicted by the ACD/Labs’ ACD/PhysChem Suite.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Log Kow (Log Pow):
2.97
at the temperature of:
20 °C

Additional information

The experimental value of the logPow for 12-ketochenodeoxycholic acid is 2.97. Considering also the predicted log Pow value of 2.38 by ACD/Labs’ ACD/PhysChem Suite it can be concluded that the substance has a moderate partition coefficient. The values, however, should be evaluated considering the amphipathic nature of bile acids. It can be therefore supposed that, in a biphasic solution, 12-ketochenodeoxycholic acid will be mainly distributed at the interface of the two phases.
