Description of key information

No experimental data currently available, but a log Kow of >6.20 indicates there is potential for bioaccumulation.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Based on a log Kow of >6.20, there is potential for the bioaccumulation of the test substance in soil dwelling organisms. However, the use of the precautionary Equilibrium Partitioning approach to derive a terrestrial PNEC and the general use of precautionary default release values for soil in the Chesar tool has resulted in exposure scenarios which all show Risk Characterisation Ratio values lower than 1 (indicating that the risks of releases to soil are controlled). Therefore, no study to assess the potential for bioaccumulation in terrestrial organisms has been proposed. An aquatic bioaccumulation test in fish has been proposed which will be conducted on Cashew Nutshell Extract, Decarboxylated, Distilled (Distilled Grade) and Cashew Nutshell Extract, Decarboxylated, Distillation Residue (Distillation Residue Grade) and the data will be read across to Technical Grade.
