Description of key information

The inhibition of the degradation activity of activated sludge is not anticipated when introduced in appropriate low concentrations.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The microbial toxicity of N,N-bis(3 -aminopropyl)methylamine (CAS 105 -83 -9) was studied in a non-GLP guideline study according to ISO 8192 (respiration inhibition test with activated sludge) . The respiration inhibition test used activated sludge as inoculum taken from a wwtp treating predominantly domestic sewage. The 3 -h EC20 was determined to be greater than 1000 mg/L (BASF AG, 1990; report no. 01.89/2040).

In conclusion, the inhibition of the degradation activity of activated sludge is not anticipated when introduced in appropriately low concentrations.
