Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The toxicity of L-arginine-HCl to microorganisms is estimated by read-across from L-arginine.

EC 10 > 10 g/kg

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC10 or NOEC for microorganisms:
10 000 mg/L

Additional information

L-Arginine did not show toxicity to microorganisms in a test according to (draft) DIN 38 412, L8 with the test organism Pseudomonas putida. The EC10 after 16 h was > 10 g/kg.

There is weight of evidence from the behaviour of L-arginine-HCl in aquous soluation that read-across from L-arginine to L-arginine-HCL is justified for the endpoint toxicity to microorganisms.
