Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Ensure that the First Aid Personnel are aware of the product involved, and take precautions to protect themselves (e.g. wear personal protection equipment). Remove affected person from danger area, lay him down. Remove soiled or soaked clothing immediately. Keep warm, calm and covered up. In the case of accident or if you feel unwell, seek medical advice immediately (show the label where possible).

If inhaled:       Remove the casualty into fresh air and keep him calm.

In case of skin contact:       In case of contact with skin wash off immediately with plenty of water. If skin irritation persists, call a physician.

In case of eye contact:       Rinse immediately with running water for 30 minutes, keeping eyelids open.

If swallowed:       RInse mouth. Call in a physician immediately and show him the Safety Data Sheet.

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media:  Water spray jet, Foam, carbon dioxide, Dry powder

Unsuitable extinguishing media:       High volume water jet

Specific hazards during fire-fighting:       In case of fires, hazardous combustion gases are formed: Carbon monoxide (CO) Carbon dioxide (CO2) Nitrogen oxides (NOx). The substance is highly flamable and may explode on heating.

Special protective equipment for firefighters: Use self-contained breathing apparatus Well closed full protective clothing (coat and pants) includinghelmet.

Further information: Keep away and seal off a large surrounding area. Remove product from areas of fire, or otherwise cool containers with water in order to avoid pressure being build up due to heat. Cool containers with water spray jet  from the greatest possible distance If possible, take cover  while fighting the fire. All  vehicles of the fire-brigade must be operated from the down-wind side of the incident.

Accidental release measures

Use personal protective clothing. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Remove persons to safety. Treat recovered material as described in the section "Disposal considerations".

Do not discharge into the drains/surface waters/groundwater.

Methods for cleaning up:       Dampen small amounts with water and take up carefully with a brush and shovel. Personnel involved in dealing with explosive  products should be specially trained.

Avoid raising dust. Place in suitable containers and send for recovery or disposal. Containers in which spilt substance has been collected must be adequately labelled.

Handling and storage

Only specially instructed staff should handle the substance.

Avoid the formation and deposition of dust. Provide good ventilation when handling large quantities. Do not heat insulated (undiluted) product above 85°C. Milling, mixing, homogenising and similar operations should be carried out under protective gas. Avoid impact, friction and electrostatic loading; risk of ignition! Use antistatic tools.

Product is capable of deflagration. Take precautions against accumulation of electrostatic charge. Keep away from sources of ignition - No smoking. Use explosion-proof equipment/fittings and non-sparking tools. The product is easily combustible. Carry out clearing up and disposal work only under guidance of an expert.

Requirements for storage areas and containers: Make sure that storage location is designed for the storage of spontaneously combustible substances. Keep away from direct sunlight.

Further information on stor-age conditions:       Keep or store under lock and key, with access restricted to experts or their representatives. Keep container tightly closed; open and handle with care. Keep container dry in a cool, well-ventilated place. Do not expose to prolonged heat. Containers should be protected against falling down.

German storage class:       4.1B, Flammable solids

Exposure controls / personal protection

Product should be worked up in closed equipment as far as possible. Dust must be extracted directly at the point of origin. Accumulation of dust in the production area must be avoided.

Protective measures: Do not inhale dust. Avoid contact with eyes.

Eye protection: Tightly fitting safety glasses and in case of severe danger add face protection (shield). e.g. when fill./emptying processing equipment, e.g. when filling containers

Hand protection:

Choose gloves to protect hands against chemicals depending on the concentration and quantity of the hazardous substance and specific to place of work.

Take note of the information given by the producer concerning permeability and break through times, and of special workplace conditions (mechanical strain, duration of contact).

Suitable: Protective gloves complying with EN 374. Nitrile rubber gloves. Butyl rubber gloves. With solid dry substances permeation is not to be expected, therefore the breakthrough-time for this protective glove has not been measured. Gloves must be inspected prior to use. Gloves should be discarded and replaced if there is any indication of degradation or chemical breakthrough. Gloves must be rinsed thoroughly after use.

Skin and body protection: Antistatic working cloth and body protection. In case of expected exposure to dust, use full body protection suit and respiratory protection. Choose body protection in relation to its type, to the concentration and amount of dangerous substances, and to the specific work-place, e.g. apron, boots, protective suit (EN 14605, EN ISO 13982-1, EN 13034). Change working clothes after each workshift.

Respiratory protection: Use respiratory protection in case of insufficient exhaust ventilation or prolonged exposure. Suitable protection: Respirator with a particle filter (EN 143). Half mask with a particle filter P2 or better (EN 143).

Hygiene measures: Avoid contact of the substance. Do not eat, drink or smoke during work time. Remove soiled or soaked clothing immediately and clean

thoroughly before using again. Garments that cannot be cleaned must be destroyed (burnt). Keep away from food and drink. Clean hands and face during work intervals and after work. Follow the skin protection plan.

Environtmental precautions: Do not allow entry to drains, water courses or soil. Contain contaminated water/firefighting water.

Stability and reactivity

Risk of violent reaction. Decomposes on heating. Explosive.

Avoid heat, flames and sparks.

Materials to avoid: Flammable materials

Hazardous decomposition products: Risk of explosion. Nitrous oxides (NOx), Carbon monoxide (CO), Carbon dioxide (CO2), Hydrogene chloride

Disposal considerations

Product: In accordance with regulations for special waste, incineration in an authorised special waste incineration plant. Care must be taken because of the explosive properties of the product. Transport may be prohibited or subject to authorization.

Contaminated packaging: Clean Package with water. Uncleaned packaging may present an explosion hazard and should be disposed as the product itself.
