Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The acute toxicity of EP-2 to algae was assessed in a growth inhibition test according to the OECD Guideline 201 (2006). Following a preliminary range finding test and initial test, Desmodesmus subspicatus (strain CCAP 276/20) was exposed for 72 hours at nominal concentrations of 0.1, 1.0, 3.2, 10, 32, 54 and 100 mg EP-2/L. Since the test substance hydrolyses quickly in contact with water, samples were analysed for the hydrolysis product (C4H11PSO3) and only and the results are expressed in terms of concentration of hydrolysis product. The EC10 and EC50 for growth rate were determined to be 1.8 and 11 mg hydrolysis product/L, respectively. The NOEC was found to be 9.0 mg hydrolysis product/L.
