Description of key information

In a short-term toxicity test on fish the LC50 of the test substannce was determined to be >46.4 and <100 mg/L.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

LC50 for freshwater fish:
46.4 mg/L

Additional information

A study was designed to assess the acute toxic effects of the test compound on the zebra fish (Brachydanio rerio HAM. and BUCH.). The study was conducted in compliance with the OECD guideline 203. Based on the nominal concentrations the median lethal concentration LC 50 (96 h) is > 46.4 and < 100 mg/L.

Additionally, in a publication (Edsall 1991) a study conducted on fish larvae (rainbow trout, Oncorhynchus mykiss) is described. 13-21 days old fish were exposed to the test substance in concentrations between 20 and 100 mg/L for 96 hours and mortality recorded. As a result, the LC50 value was determined to be 36.5 mg/L (nominal), but as basic details are missing in this publication, the available data were considered as not reliable.
