1,4-bis[(2,6-diethyl-4-methyl- phenyl)amino]anthraquinone (Reinblau BLW) is insoluble in water (the water solubility of the test item was not detectable with a value lower than 0.00002 g/l) and has a log Pow of > 6.2 (according to the OECD 117 the partition coefficient (log Pow) was determined to be above 6.2 at 25°C and a logPow-value of 8.76 extrapolated). In the case of the partition coefficient the results refer to the structure related 1,4-bis(2-ethyl-6-methy1anilino) anthraquinone (CAS-No. 41611-76-1) of 1,4-bis[(2,6-diethyl-4-methyl- phenyl)amino]anthraquinone (CAS-No. 32724-62-2).

Reinblau BLW has a low acute toxicity (LD50 oral >15000 mg/kg bw). The substance is not irritating to the skin and eyes. Reinblau BLW was negative in an Ames test with and without metabolic activation. No toxification via metabolic activation of parent compounds are therefore expected.

Due to the close structural similarity (1,4-bis[(2,6-diethyl-4-methyl- phenyl)amino]anthraquinone (CAS-No. 32724-62-2) has an additional ethylgroup in the aromatic side chains in relation to with1,4-bis(2-ethyl-6-methy1anilino) anthraquinone (CAS-No. 41611-76-1), the similar physicochemical and toxicological properties a read-across between the 2 compounds is justified (see also CSR Annex).
