Additional information

The LC50 value of an OECD guideline study on zebrafish was determined to be greater than 7.19 mg/L (measured; 100 mg/L nominal) (Ciba Geigy 1992). No toxic effects occured in the range of water solubility. The study was conducted with DMSO as solubilizer which is known to increase toxicity by means of enhancing the permeability of cell membranes. Since no toxic effect was observed despite the use of DMSO and the fact that the test substance was administered above the limit of water solubility the test is regarded as a valid worst case scenario.
