Description of key information

The half-life for the test compound in the atmosphere based on reaction with hydroxyl radicals  was estimated using the Atmospheric Oxidation Program in EPI Suite.  A supporting study measured direct photolysis of a radiolabeled test compound coated on an inert support.

The estimated half-life for 1-nitropropane in the atmosphere based on reaction with hydroxyl radicals is 37 days using the Atmospheric Oxidation Program in EPI Suite. A supporting study assessing direct photolysis of the radiolabeled test compound coated on an inert support and irradiated with light from a mercury vapor lamp filtered through pyrex glass (>290 nm wavelength) showed a half-life of approximately 0.7 days.
