Description of key information

The main usage of the substance is in offshore locations associated with no exposure to agricultural soil. The risk of exposure to soil from manufacture and onshore use is from application of STP sludge to agricultural soil. As the substance is very water soluble, the substance does not absorb well to STP sludge, so the potential exposure is extremely small. Therefore, the PNEC for soil has been derived from the aquatic toxicity (based on study results) using the partition coefficient method, as described in the ECHA Guidance Document "Guidance on Information Requirements Part B: Hazard Assessment". The hazard and risk derived using this method was found to be minimal.
