Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The substance does not require classification as auto-flammable.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The auto-flammability potential of the registered substance was estimated via an assessment based on an examination of the molecular structure and composition of the substance and relevant experimental data. Two aspects of auto-flammability were considered when assessing the substance, namely the capacity of the substance to react with oxygen and a tendency towards exothermic decomposition. The substance has a melting point below 160°C (actual temperature 57°C) and can therefore dissipate heat by melting. The melting process also reduces the surface area of the substance that is exposed to oxygen. In addition to the structural assessment, the substance has been analysed by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) up to 500°C. After melting, the substance decomposes gradually from approximately 154°C with a minor exothermic event around 350°C however there is no evidence of significant exothermic events that would indicate a tendency towards exothermic decomposition (see section 4.8 for results of the DSC and TGA analysis). It is concluded that the substance does not require classification as autoflammable.
