First-aid measures
Inhalation
Move to fresh air. Keep patient warm and at rest. If symptoms persist, call a physician.
Skin contact
Wash off thoroughly with plenty of soap and water, if available with polyethyleneglycol 400,
subsequently rinse with water. If symptoms persist, call a physician.
Eye contact
Rinse immediately with plenty of water, also under the eyelids, for at least 15 minutes.
Remove contact lenses, if present, after the first 5 minutes, then continue rinsing eye. Call a
physician or poison control center immediately.
Ingestion
Rinse mouth, ingest activated charcoal. Do NOT induce vomiting. Obtain medical attention.
Notes to physician
Symptoms
To date no symptoms are known.
Treatment
Treat symptomatically.
In case of ingestion gastric lavage should be considered in cases of significant ingestions
only within the first 2 hours. However, the application of activated charcoal and sodium
sulphate is always advisable.
Fire-fighting measures
Recommended extinguishing agent: Water spray, foam
For safety reasons the following extinguishing agents are
not suitable:powder, CO2, high pressure water
Contaminated fire water must be contained seperately and
should not enter the sewage system.
Product arising from burning: Oxides of Carbon and Sulfur, Hydrogen Iodide
Product determined by test: N
Protective equipment: In case of fire wear self-contained breathing apparatus and
full protective suit.
Accidental release measures
Emergency measures in case of spillage: Clean up without generation of dust using HEPA filtered
industrial vacuum cleaner or with mechanical equipment
(e.g.shovel, broom) and fill into closable container for
recovery or disposal. Label the waste container
accordingly.
Wear personal equipment (see 2.3.10). Wear respiratory
protection if exposure to vapours/dust/aerosols is possible.
Prevent the material from entering into the sewage system.
Handling and storage
This substance is handled under Strictly Controlled Conditions in accordance with REACH regulation Article 17(3) for on-site isolated intermediates and, in case the substance is transported to other sites for further processing, the substance should be handled at these sites under the Strictly Controlled Conditions as specified in REACH regulation Article 18(4). Site documentation to support safe handling arrangements including the selection of engineering, administrative and personal protective equipment controls in accordance with risk-based management systems is available at each manufacturing site.
Handling: All work procedures will be arranged so that eye exposure to the substance will be avoided. Inhalation of the substance and the skin contact will also be avoided.Containment will be used where reasonably practicable. Where airborne dust can be produced LEV will be used. Where containment or ventilation are not sufficient , wearing of respiratory protection is recommended. Appropriate eye protection is necessary. Eye wash stations should be placed near to the working area and their location should be marked. Storage: Store only in original container. Keep containers dry, tightly closed and at a cool well ventilated place. Storing temperature: 0 - 30 °C. Avoid residues on/at the containers. Packaging of the substance and or preparation: Plastic barrel 120l

Exposure controls / personal protection
This substance is handled under Strictly Controlled Conditions in accordance with REACH regulation Article 17(3) for on-site isolated intermediates and, in case the substance is transported to other sites for further processing, the substance should be handled at these sites under the Strictly Controlled Conditions as specified in REACH regulation Article 18(4). Site documentation to support safe handling arrangements including the selection of engineering, administrative and personal protective equipment controls in accordance with risk-based management systems is available at each manufacturing site.
Respiratory protection Wear respirator with a particle filter mask (protection factor 4) conforming to European norm EN149FFP1 or equivalent. Respiratory protection should only be used to control residual risk of short duration activities, when all reasonably practicable steps have been taken to reduce exposure at source e.g. containment and/or local extract ventilation. Always follow respirator manufacturer's instructions regarding wearing and maintenance.
Hand protection Wear CE Marked (or equivalent) nitrile rubber gloves (minimum thickness 0,40 mm). Wash when contaminated. Dispose of when contaminated inside, when perforated or when contamination outside cannot be removed. Wash hands always before eating, drinking, smoking or using the toilet.
Eye protection Wear goggles conforming to EN166 (Field of Use 5 or equivalent).
Skin and body protection: Wear standard coverall and type 5 suit. Wear two layers of clothing wherever possible. Polyester/cotton or cotton overalls should be worn under chemical protection suit and should be professionally laundered frequently.
Hygiene measures
When using, do not eat, drink or smoke.
Remove soiled clothing immediately and clean thoroughly before using again.
Contaminated work clothing should not be allowed out of the workplace.
Wash hands thoroughly with soap and water after handling and before eating, drinking,
chewing gum, using tobacco, using the toilet or applying cosmetics.
Wash hands immediately after work, if necessary take a shower.
Stability and reactivity
Danger other than fire: none known
Chemical reaction with water: acid reaction
Dust explosion determined by test: N
Disposal considerations
Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Recrystallisation from aqueous KCl-solution. Concentration
with nanofiltration.
Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: The acidity of the substance could be neutralized e.g. with
sodium bicarbonate.
Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: not planned
Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Controlled incineration with flue gas scrubbing possible.
Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: At the moment not planned
Industry - Possibility of destruction - other: None known
