Description of key information

Earthworm 14-day LC50 of 232.386 mg/L has been predicted by ECOSAR v1.11 (USEPA, 2012). The prediction is reliable since butylal is in the logKow and MW range of the model. But the study is not to be considered as a weight of evidence (because at least 2 independent pieces of evidence are not available). Following the REACH reglementation point 9.4: If studies on aquatic organisms are available and that the calculated values from EPM (Equilibrium Partition Method) for terrestrial organisms are acceptable, studies on terrestrial organisms can be avoided.
