Additional information

Dodecanedioic acid did not show irritating effects in an acute dermal irritation study. Based on a read across among category members, Tetradecanedioic acid is not expected as well to have irritating effects on skin. An acute eye irritation study was performed on Tetradecanedioic acid showed moderate to important occular reactions but not totally reversible.

Effects on eye irritation: highly irritating

Justification for classification or non-classification

According to Dangerous Substances Directive, DSD (67/548/EC) and CLP regulation (1272/2008/EC), Tetradecanedioic acid does not require classification regarding skin irritation. However, taking into account the important and not fully reversible occular reactions, the substance will be classified Xi; R41 (risk of serious damage to eyes) according to DSD and "Eye Damage 1", H318 (Causes serious eye damage) according to CLP.
