Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

In a guideline study no boiling point was determined prior to decomposition. The test substance decomposes at higher temperatures.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The boiling temperature of Stearic acid, esters with methyl α-D-glucoside was determined by differential scanning calorimetry according to OECD Test Guideline 103 [adopted on 27 July 1995] and EU test method A.2 "Boiling temperature", Council Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 of 30 May 2008.

The DSC measurements were performed twice, using crucible lids with one hole of 50 µm to determine a possible boiling point more precisely.

A noisy but weak enthalpy signal at higher temperatures indicates the beginning of decomposition of the test item. The measurements were aborted at 410°C and 420°C. After the measurements there was a black residue inside the crucible and on the lid and a mass loss of 61 – 73% was registered. No boiling point prior to decomposition could be determined.
