Description of key information

The substance is inherently biodegradable showing biodegradation after a prolonged exposure period and a prolonged lag phase.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Summing up the available experimental screening test data and calculated data (see IUCLID chapter 5.2.1), 3 -API is concluded via weight-of-evidence approach to be inherently biodegradable showing biodegradation after a prolonged exposure period and a prolonged lag phase. These data are used considering data waiving according to EC no. 1907/2006 Annex XI section 1.

In addition, 3 -API a low potential for adsorption (see IUCLID chapter 5.4.1) indicating a low potential for adsorption to sediment.

Therefore, no further tests on biodegradation simulation tests: “ultimate degradation in surface water” and “sediment simulation tests” are performed.
