Details on test conditions:
All tests were performed in 30-litre glass aquaria. A steel spiral tube with running urban tap water held the temperature constant at 14 +- 1 °C. Oxygenation was achieved by constant aeration with compressed purified air by means of a glass aerator tube. The fish were exposed to five concentrations: 150, 250, 400, 600, 1000 + control. Ten fish were used per concentration of the test substance. Food was withheld from the trouts two days before and throughout the test. The test duration was 96 h.

In this study the acute toxicity of the test substance towards fish was estimated by continuous exposure of rainbow trouts for 96 hours, according to OECD guideline 203. Following an acclimation and adaptation period, groups of ten trouts were exposed under controlled conditions, using a static test system, to five different concentrations of the test compound (150, 250, 400, 600, 1000 mg/L). As a control, a group of ten fish was exposed to normal urban tap water. Fish were observed daily and behavior and mortality were recorded. An 96h-EC50 of 730 mg/L was determined for the test item towards fish.
