Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Appearance
Intermediate 36 is a light yellow, odourless liquid silicium-organic substance.

Melting point, Boiling point, and Density
The melting range of Intermediate 36 was determined according to EU Method A.1 (Melting / Freezing Temperature), resulting in a melting range of -31.8 to -21.2 ± 0.5°C, i.e. 241.4 to 252.0 K.
Intermediate 36 was tested for the boiling point according to EU Method A.2 (Boiling Temperature). The test was carried out at 97.2 kPa atmospheric pressure. Using a linear heating rate of 0.5 °C/min, the boiling point of Intermediate 36 was found to be 264.1 +/- 0.05 °C (95 % confidence interval), i.e. 537.3 K.
The relative density of Intermediate 36 was determined to be 1.08 g/cm³ at 20°C using a digital oscillating densitometer.

Particle size distribution
Intermediate 36 is a liquid and therefore the test on particle size distribution is not applicable.

Surface tension

As Intermediate 36 does not contain chemical groups indicating surface active properties experimental determination was not conducted

Flash point
The measured flash points of Intermediate 36 were 163.7 °C and 164.7 °C, resulting in a mean value of 164 °C.

Auto flammability
The auto-ignition temperature of Intermediate 36 was determined to be 261 °C.

Flammability (contact with water) and Pyrophoric properties
The chemical structure of Intermediate 36 does not contain chemical groups, capable of causing the development of a dangerous amount of (flammable) gas (e.g. hydrogen), when in contact with damp air or water. Therefore test substance is not considered highly flammable (contact with water).
No ignition and charring of the filter paper occurred in any of the two main tests performed – neither in the six tests following the first main test, nor in the succeeding three performed following the second main test as described above. Intermediate 36 proved to be not pyrophoric.

Explosiveness
The test method for the determination of the explosive properties of a substance as described for liquid materials in Test Guideline A.14 of Commission Regulation (EC) No 440/2008, Part A, Methods for the Determination of Physico-Chemical Properties was replaced by a theoretical based evaluation. The chemical structure of Intermediate 36 does not contain chemical groups or individual structural components, which may lead to the conclusion that explosive properties have to be expected.

Oxidising properties

Considering the chemical structure and individual structural components, oxidising properties are not expected for Intermediate 36. None of the oxygen atoms impose any oxidising properties on the molecule. In addition, from the silicium contained no definitive oxidising properties are to be expected, which is supported by the experience in handling and use of the substance available.
