Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

The logarithm of the organic carbon normalized adsorption coefficient (log Koc) for C4 acrylate was estimated by HPLC. The HPLC-based value is 4.03 (range, <1.23 to 4.23). The tendency of C4 acrylate to bind to surfaces is used in multi-stage treatment of process water effluent. Releases to the environment during manufacture and use are expected to be minimal. Water solubility of C4 acrylate is limited in ionic media, so additional values of Koc were calculated (range, 1773 to 3120; log Koc 3.25 to 3.49). Taken with the range of log Koc values for the components of C4 acrylate by HPLC, the calculated Koc values suggest that the key value sets a maximum value of the adsorption coefficient. Direct testing of Koc is not needed to further refine the risk assessment.

The Henry’s Law constant (HLC) for C4 acrylate was calculated from experimental water solubility and extrapolated vapor pressure data reported in the key studies for each endpoint, after adjustment to 25 °C, as per EUSES v.2.1.2 . The Henry's Law constant thus calculated is 50 Pa∙m³/mol at 25 °C. Based on the HLC value and the Koc, C4 acrylate will have a tendency to volatilize from aqueous solution in open systems which is moderated by partitioning to suspended solids and dissolved organic matter.
