Description of key information

Data on the acute toxicity of source substance A (Ethoxylated bisphenol A diacrylate) and source substance B (2 moles Ethoxylated bisphenol A dimethacrylate) in freshwater organisms (fish, algae and microorganisms) were used to fill by read across the same ecotoxicological endpoints of the test item.

This read-across approach is confirmed by the result of a short-term toxicity test on aquatic invertebrates on the target substance, in which no effects to Daphnia magna were detected up to the limit of solubility.

Long-term toxicity data to aquatic invertebrates is also available on source substance B (2 moles Ethoxylated bisphenol A dimethacrylate); in an OECD 211 limit test, no effects were observed on survival, mobility or reproduction on organisms exposed to 10mg/L nominal concentration after 21 days. These results are also used in a read-across approach to support the chemical safety assessment of the target substance.
