Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Relative self-ignition temperature of surrogate substance (Quaternary ammonium compounds, C20-22-alkyltrimethyl, chlorides): >400 °C.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The relative self-ignition temperature of the surrogate substance (Quaternary ammonium compounds, C20-22-alkyltrimethyl, chlorides) was determined according to EEC guideline 92/69/EWG A.16. The temperature/time-curves of the test item and oven were recorded simultaneously. The oven temperature was increased beginning at room temperature up to 400 °C at a rate of 0.5 °C/min. No self-ignition was observed up to the stop-temperature of 400 °C.

The surrogate substance differs from the submission substance primarily in the anion (surrogate substance: chloride). The carbon chain lenght distribution, which is considered as decisive for the auto-flammability, is about the same.
