Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Flash Point (triethoxyisobutylsilane): 60.5°C (EU Method A.9)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flash point at 101 325 Pa:
60.5 °C

Additional information

A measured flash point value of 60.5°C was determined for the test substance using an appropriate test method. Although full details are not available, the result is considered reliable and selected as key study. In the supporting study, a flash point value of 60°C was reported for triethoxyisobutylsilane in a secondary source to which no reliability could be assigned. There is a close agreement between available data for the substance.

The available studies, which used non-equilibrium closed cup test methods, indicate that triethoxyisobutylsilane is borderline for classification as Flammable Liquid Category 3. According to REACH Technical Guidance Chapter R.7a (ECHA, 2008), a further test should be performed following an equilibrium method when the flash point result is within ±2°C of a classification cut-off value (≥60°C for Category 3), in order to obtain a more accurate value. Further testing was not previously necessary for the NONS notification of the substance since at that time the relevant cut-off for a flammable liquid was 55°C.

A new test is therefore planned for triethoxyisobutylsilane.
