Description of key information

The measurement of vapor pressure at different temperatures and the modelization derived from them (Antoine equation) allow us to provide an accurate value at 25 °C: 35.65 mm Hg or 4.75 kPa.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Vapour pressure:
4.75 kPa
at the temperature of:
25 °C

Additional information

The Antoine equation of Nitromethane, determined in the range of 40 to 101.2 °C (its boiling temperature) has been found to be:

log p = 7.2274170 - 1441.610/(t +226.939) with p in mm Hg and t in °C

The extrapolation of this equation at 25°C provides a value of 35.65 mm Hg, which is in good agreement with the value given in a handbook (35.8 mm Hg).
