Description of key information

OECD guideline for testing of chemicals, TG420 (2001) acute oral toxicity - fixed dose procedure
Single oral gavage
Sprague-Dawley female rats
Mortality, clinical signs and body weight changes for 14 days were monitored and gross pathology for all animals was examined.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Acute toxicity: via oral route

Endpoint conclusion
Dose descriptor:
LD50
Value:
2 000 mg/kg bw

Additional information

300 mg/l of test article was administered to 1 female in the first step because this dose did not induce any toxic sign, 2000 mg/l was administered to another 1 female . Because there was no significant toxic sign, this dose was selected for a starting dose for the main study.

Justification for classification or non-classification

The dose of 2000 mg/kg of the test article did not induce any toxic effect. No death and no clinical signs of toxicological importance were observed during the study. No treatment-related effects on body weight development and gross pathology were observed.

AM19 was considered to be classified into GHS category 5/unclassified.
